Plainsnet Wireless Broadband Internet uses an innovative technology by Motorola® called “fixed wireless.” It is not DSL or cable-modem technology. This wireless, broadband technology connects you to the Internet at speeds much faster than today's dial-up modems and comparable to DSL. Plainsnet's fixed wireless technology by Motorola®, uses a stationary device called a transceiver that is mounted on the outside of your home, usually on the roof. The transceiver is pointed toward a radio transmission tower that sends and receives signals. Once the signal is received by your transceiver, it is sent to the computer network card.

All Services Packages require a one (1) time Service Activation Fee of $50.00. Monthly Service Fees include equipment rental.
Radio transceiver purchase option is a one (1) time cost of $600.00. You may deduct $20.00 each month from your monthly
Service Fee or get an upgrade in internet service level for same money.

 

How is it better than using my phone line?

Broadband is ALWAYS ON! There is no waiting to dial in. And it's faster. In fact up to 25 times faster than a 56K modem connection. For example, a web page that takes a full minute to load over your modem line will appear in less than 5 seconds using broadband. A large Windows Update such as installing a new Internet Explorer that might take 2 hours with a 56K modem is done in less than 15 minutes with broadband.

Broadband is often in the same price range as a dial up connections, and it does not require a phone line. If you are currently paying for an additional phone line just for the computer, it can be replaced with broadband and you may actually save a few dollars every month!
